The Webmasters Awards 2001 is being launched by themyp.com to acknowledge and give recognition to the people who build sites and not the companies that pay for them! We are looking for, with the help of the general public in Mauritius, the best Mauritian and Indian Ocean webmasters in their respective site category. themyp.com
Webmasters Award 2001 Servihoo`s Web D`Or has stayed in memory alright, but not the way its organizers would have hoped for. Who within the Mauritian Internet industry does not remember this ceremony that was supposed to be grandiose. The organizers wanted the event to be a memorable one for Year 2001. They have succeeded! And that too in the most remarkable manner! The night ended by a dubious choice - based on un-established criterias from the spectators and participants' point of view. It was the site owners that got the prizes and not the site webmasters (creators) as it should have been. No one seemed satisfied except those holding the trophies with a gaping smile on their faces in front of the media. You could sense their embarrassment to the point of asking if they knew how to differentiate between a mouse and a keyboard! The Mauritius Yellow Pages (www.themyp.com) decided to launch a Webmasters Award 2001, designed to support the creative and development talents of our Mauritian webmasters. The last / initial date for submission of participation was fixed for June 30, 2001 and the last date for voting for September 30, 2001, given the great number of participants and the renewed interest of Mauritian webmasters (who participated for the "Web D`Or) as well as amateurs, The Mauritius Yellow Pages (www.themyp.com) has decided to extend the last submission for participation date to September 30, 2001 and the last voting date has been extended to November 15, 2001. Those who have not yet had a chance to submit their request to participate can do so now. The Mauritius Yellow Pages (www.themyp.com) wants to reward webmasters for their talent with prizes with the help of several Mauritian sponsors. Specific criterias such as contents of the site, user friendliness, update facilities, design, navigation and conception as well as theme will be taken into account and it is themyp.com surfers that will be the jury. The participants will have a true idea of the expectations of the surfers through results that will be displayed on the www.themyp.com. The voter's country of origin will be published and the respective category for which they shave voted will remain confidential as well as any other information submitted on the voting form. Voting will only be valid against a valid e-mail address. You can vote before the closing date but it is important to note that there will be new applications for nominations. It would be wise to wait until nomination deadline is reached (September 30, 2001) before voting. The final results will be published on December 01, 2001. This date has been chosen since it coincides with The World AIDS Day and The Mauritius Yellow Pages (www.themyp.com) wishes to promote this world event benevolently through the Internet to reach maximum audience and create public awareness in Mauritius. First step - Choose the category in which you want to vote. Choose the site you want to vote for, and rate it on six basic criteria's (compulsory), for content, user friendliness, update freshness, design, navigation and speed. You may also submit a personal comment (optional) which may be posted on the forum. At this stage, you can consult the information we have on that site in the 'more details' column. We are trying to obtain a maximum amount of information on all the sites that we have nominated or have requested to be nominated. If you are the site's webmaster and wish to update any information that we have on your site or request to participate click here. Any submissions will only be accepted under a valid e-mail address and telephone number (where you can be reached). Prior to voting you may consult the forum for each category in order to browse, consult and eventually discuss and share further comments and ideas on the respective participating sites in their category. Votes will only be validated with a submitted valid e-mail address. Second step - After submission of the first step, you will be refreshed to a new page asking you to authenticate your vote by activating the radio button for the site you are voting for. Once you do this a pop up window will appear informing you of the actual % breakdown of the sites that have been voted in that category. You will only be able to authenticate a vote once. Voting will be open until the 30th September 2001.
