Posted to the web February 20, 2001 February 20, 2001 - Port-Louis, Mauritius, Indian Ocean The national carrier, Air Mauritius has signed the Open Subscription Licence proposed by Microsoft Indian Ocean. The agreement, which was signed on Monday in Port Louis, allows the Mauritian company to install and use the most recent versions of software from Microsoft for three years. The Open Subscription Licence is a new alternative proposed since the beginning of the year to companies for the use of Microsoft software. Air Mauritius' director-general Vijay Poonoosamy said, "This formula is a less expensive mean to procure software. Moreover, the licence allows us to upgrade freely the software and to stay at the peak of technology." He added that the agreement would also allow the airline's employees to become productive, as they will have better access to information. Poonoosamy noted that Air Mauritius would also develop a Central Customer Interaction Center to give a personalised service to its clients through the web, the telephone or through its partners.
