Mauritius National Transport
Corporation has ordered 25 environment-friendly buses from the Indian firm,
Ashok Leyland.
General Manager Rajan Dev Daliah Friday vouched that the buses would comply to the European EURO 1 standard concerning smoke emission. "The 25 buses would cost 44 million rupees, and are being financed by an India government credit line offered to Mauritius," Daliah said, adding "the buses would reach Mauritius by the end of the year." Mauritius environment police have since last year gone tough on smoke emitting vehicles, with several hundred motorists paying fines. |
